Students from the Department of Art and Design – Iva Jerinić, Nevena Đorđević, Aleksa Todorović, Sara Pantić, and Katarina Milovanović – together with Professor Lidija Živković as the group leader, participated in the KA152 Erasmus+ youth exchange project “Beyond Borders: Towards a More Connected Europe Through Language,” which took place from February 13 to 20, 2026, in Puntas de Calnegre, Spain.
The project was dedicated to improving mutual understanding of languages and cultures through an approach that can be described as hermeneutic mediation of meaning – a process in which meaning is shaped not only through words, but also through context, symbolism, and creative forms of expression. Through workshops and joint activities, participants communicated using their native languages, as well as visual and creative methods, developing the ability to understand different cultural perspectives.
A particularly important aspect of the project was the presentation of participants’ national identities. Each group authentically and proudly showcased elements of its culture, tradition, and contemporary social life. Such presentations of national distinctiveness contributed to creating an atmosphere of mutual respect, in which cultural diversity was experienced as a value that enriches the European space of togetherness.
The project brought together partners from Turkey, Bulgaria, Spain, and Slovakia. Upon returning to Belgrade, our participants held a presentation for their colleagues at the department, sharing their most interesting experiences and insights from Spain.
