The project “GETTA – Gender Equality through Theatre and Art” (N° 2023-3-EL02-KA152-YOU-000177493) was a very inspiring undertaking, which allowed the team from the Department of Art and Design at BAPUSS to explore the deep-rooted problems of gender inequality, from antiquity to contemporary society. Representatives from five countries participated: Italy, Greece, Romania, Turkey and Serbia. Lecturer Miloš Ćosović and students Katarina Karalić, Tatjana Petrović, Anja Spasić, and Andrijana Obradović spent eight unforgettable days on the island of Poros in Greece, working on solving one of the most important social challenges of today – gender-based violence.

Through a debating approach that connected the historical and mythological roots of inequality with contemporary contexts, participants formed teams and created a series of interactive theatre performances. Each situation was an opportunity to find innovative ways to solve problems through creativity and dialogue. The performances evolved continuously, while the discussions introduced fresh perspectives, highlighting the transformative power of art in driving social change.

In addition to empowering young people to confront this complex issue, the project fostered cross-cultural connections and collaboration, creating important relationships. “GETTA” represented the power of collective work and artistic creation in the fight for a better and more just world!! 🌍🎭
